General Art

General Art class explores a variety of media and topics. It includes drawing, graphic design, print making, sculpture, collage, basket weaving, glass painting, imitation scrimshaw, dream catchers, clay, computer art, book making, architecture, art history, and more. Projects and topics change year-to-year so students who take the class years in a row aren't doing the same things over and over. For example, if we do Pop Art Sculpture as a graded assignment one year, we won't do it again until three or four years later. However, students who like that type of sculpture and want to do it again can do it for their Student Choice Project the next year. Students get a voice in our project line up by helping to choose some of the projects we do. We have a "Class Picked Project" (students find project ideas and put them up for a class vote). We also have a "Student Choice Project" (an individual project they choose for themselves).

Every few years, the General Art class makes personalized books for children in the community.
